Biofiltration Devices
"A Biofiltration Device is one that incorporates the use of vegetation to enhance the filtration properties of the device and requires that the vegetation is placed above ground so that photosynthesis and the free exchange of carbon dioxide can occur".
Product Engineering Sheets and Performance Documentation is available, simply use the contact messageboard at the bottom of this page to request a copy of the particular device you're interested in.
PURESTREAM
By far our most popular and most often specified vault, it's basically a curb inlet vault with proprietary medias and one or more trees / shrubs utilized to obtain the biofiltration capabilities. Available in a variety of sizes from as small as 4' x 4' to as large as a 20' x 12' unit. These devices can accommodate not only the street discharges but also accept inlet pipes from roof drains and / or areas drains. Vaults can be designed to accept pipe-in / pipe out configurations.
Filtration occurs at 0.085 Cfs per s/f media bed surface area, i.e. a 12' x 6' vault = 6.12 Cfs
RAISED PURESTREAM VAULTS
Can be used as an alternative to stand alone planter boxes, but are primarily used to filter roof drain discharges. Designed with a "splash chamber" at the collection entry point, eliminates back splashes on wall surfaces and damages to buildings. Vegetation provides biofiltration and discharges can be routed into either off-site drainage systems or on-site swales.
Filtration occurs at 0.085 Cfs per s/f of media bed surface area, i.e. a 10' x 8' vault = 6.80 Cfs
BIOGREEN VAULTS
Similar to the PURESTREAM, these vaults are specifically designed to accept large volume discharges and are primarily placed in large parking lots or at the entry / exit points in raised drive aisles. These vaults feature two (2) curb inlet openings vs. only one via a typical curb inlet installation. May be used as stand alone units or used in combinations providing even more capture / filtration of heavy sheet flow runoff(s).
Filtration occurs at 0.085 Cfs per s/f of media bed surface area, i.e. a 6' x 4' vault = 2.04 Cfs
PUREFLO WETLANDS
Primarily utilized where discharge retention is desired, vaults can be designed to restrict the volume of off-site discharges, reducing the stresses placed on City / County drainage systems during heavy rain events. Can also be used in conjunction with our 1st Use System, eliminating off-site discharges and providing for on-site usage of captured rainfall(s).
Filtration occurs at 0.085 Cfs per s/f of media bed surface area, i.e. a 14' x 6' vault = 7.41 Cfs
